The UNITY community art mural was unveiled at an intimate community celebration at the Hillview Intercultural Community Centre on 25 June 2023. City of Canning Mayor Patrick Hall officially launched the opening and expressed thanks to lead artist Nick Zafir and all the community participants involved in designing and painting the mural. Senator Fatima Payman was also in attendance at the launch in support of this community initiative.

The UNITY mural aims to celebrate the diverse backgrounds and intercultural connections between communities within the City of Canning. A partnership between CAN and the City of Canning, the mural is a culmination of the design and painting workshops that took place at Hillview Intercultural Community Centre in May 2023.

Thanks to traditional owner, Marie Taylor, for the beautiful Welcome to Country. Thanks also to local musician Josh De Silva for the wonderful music, and to everyone who came along to celebrate with us!
