Noongar Nursery Rhymes

Inspired by CAN’s long-running, award-winning Noongar Lullabies program, Noongar Nursery Rhymes is a language and music program designed especially for pre-school age children and their families. Like its parent program, Noongar Nursery Rhymes celebrates, preserves and amplifies Noongar language and culture.

Developed in partnership with Playgroup WA, this new program sees Noongar artists working with First Nations children and their caregivers to create original Noongar nursery rhymes. Guided and mentored by First Nations artists, children and caregivers will learn Noongar vocabulary, which will then be used to create a simple, happy rhyme. The lyrics will be published in an accompanying children’s book.

With Noongar language at its heart, this initiative empowers First Nations families to share and celebrate their culture with their children and extended families, fostering cultural pride and strengthening community connections.
