Legacies

Legacies aims to shine a light on the Goldfields region's often hidden First Nations narratives through a multimedia truth-telling project that will record and preserve the life stories of ten local Elders.

Through conversational-style podcasts and observational photography these Elders will re-tell the Goldfields story through the lens of the First Nations people.

In the tradition of CAN’s landmark 2022 Ngaluk Waankiny (Us Talking) project, which shared and celebrated the lives of ten trailblazing Elders from Boorloo/Perth, the Legacies project is designed to amplify First Nations stories that are often unheard by the broader community. As the name suggests, the project will also create a legacy; a collection of stories of survival and resilience to hand down to future generations.
