Community Arts Network, City of Melville and Moodjar Consultancy met down at the clear crystal waters of Jenalup which starts at the beginning on Blackwall Reach Parade, Bicton.
After an acknowledgement of country by Noongar Elder Geri Hayden, our team walked the Jenalup track and collected environmental inspirations that reflected all elements of the area and itβs surroundings.
Lead Artists Natalie Scholtz and Sandy McKendrick led the group through a creative mapping exercise where we created a group work on the sand at Jenalup and then used ink to abstract various elements such as seaweed, bark, leaves, feathers and sand.
The purpose of this engagement was to bring all partners together face to face after our online workshops and to explore some of the cultural mapping and creative engagement techniques used through the Place Names project so that we as a team can identify opportunities for Place Names Melville to engage with the wider community.
