In partnership with Art on the Move, CAN is touring Ngaluk Waanginy to the Museum of the Goldfields in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, 21 February – 28 April 2025, where it will also serve as a catalyst for a new project, Legacies. The exhibition will also tour to Arts Narrogin, 19 June – 31 July 2025.

The 2025 Ngaluk Waanginy exhibition will feature artwork from the original project, including portrait photographs of each of the ten Elders, their recorded oral histories from the Ni! Means Listen podcast and the Ngaluk Waangkiny documentary which was originally broadcast by the ABC iview.

The Ngaluk Waangkiny tour to Kalgoorlie-Boulder will act as a catalyst for CAN’s new project, Legacies, an oral history and photojournalism truth-telling project. Inspired by Ngaluk Waangkiny, Legacies will celebrate the unique personal histories of ten trailblazing Elders from the Goldfields region.

“Projects like these are vitally important, because we're not only recording the life stories of First Nations Elders, we're preserving these often untold histories for future generations” said Danielle Antaki, Community Arts Network CEO.

“Now, more than ever, the First Nations perspective of our nation’s history needs to be shared and heard, because without that understanding and acknowledgement, reconciliation will be hard to achieve.”

Ngaluk Waangkiny Elder Uncle Ben Taylor will travel to Kalgoorlie for the official opening on the February 21 to share his personal experiences in the project, and to hand on the baton on to the next group of Elders who will share their legacies.
