LISTEN
The name Koorndaarm Bidi means Dreaming Path, and this collection of Noongar lullabies follows a sleep journey that will delight the whole family. As the sun sinks towards the horizon, sing along with stories that soothe the soul. Rest your eyes as night arrives and ancestral spirits inhabit the star-strewn skies. Relish the final songs that celebrate the new day and a bright future ahead.
Koorndaarm Bidi was created as part of Community Arts Network’s Lullabies program. Lullabies Belmont is the seventh iteration of CAN’s Lullabies program, which is designed to revive Noongar language through story, music and song.
The lullabies in Koorndaarm Bidi were written and recorded by members of the Noongar community who are connected to Belmont, led by acclaimed Noongar songwriters and musicians Della Rae Morrison and her son Kobi Arthur Morrison.
The song-writing process began with a workshop led by artist and Traditional Owner Geri Hayden, in which participants each made their own story-doll. The narratives and themes found in the lullabies in this collection have their genesis in the dolls that were created during this workshop.
Lullabies Belmont was co-produced by Noongar actor, writer and filmmaker Irma Woods and Brazilian community worker Lidia Castro.
