ABOUT CAN
Country Awareness Network Victoria Inc. (CAN) is a community based, not for profit, non government membership organisation funded, in part, by the Department of Human Services Victoria (DHS). CAN provides information, education, support, referrals and advocacy to Victorian rural/regional communities regarding HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, other Blood Borne Viruses (BBVs) and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
CAN Vic is an Australian, incorporated association and a registered Australian Charity for taxation purposes. CAN is governed by a volunteer Board of Management and operates from basic community development principles of empowerment and inclusion.
CAN's Mission Statement
To foster appropriate, sensitive and accessible support, services, advocacy and resources in rural areas for people infected or affected by HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, other Blood Borne Viruses and Sexually Transmitted Infections.
We rely heavily upon our networks of collaborative partnerships with other organisations and individuals to facilitate the best possible outcomes for the communities which we serve. Become a member. Individual memberships are free. ($30 annually for organisations.) Download a
membership form, complete it and send it back.
- Make a donation. Donations assist CAN to support people living with HIV and/or Hepatitis C as well as deliver information, education and resources to rural communities of Victoria. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
- Volunteer your time. The majority of CAN's work is supported by a volunteer staff. There's a variety of tasks to suit a range of skills and time commitments and all volunteers receive support and training. Email us if you'd like more information.
