November 24 to December 1 is AIDS Awareness Week. Country Awareness Network (CAN) with the help of other local service providers and community groups, leads an annual campaign in Central Victoria to raise awareness regarding HIV, its prevention and to show support to those living with HIV.

Events include an art competition and exhibition, youth poster competition and show, community information and resource stalls and a concert.

The signature activity of AIDS Awareness Week continues to be the red ribbon fundraising campaign. The red ribbon is the international symbol of HIV and AIDS awareness. Each year the monies raised through the selling of red ribbons in Australia goes towards providing support services for people living with HIV.
