AIDS Awareness Week
September 29, 2008 | Posted by A. Wright
December 1st is recognised internationally as World AIDS Day. World AIDS Day is preceded by AIDS Awareness Week, beginning annually on the 24th November. The aim of
World AIDS Day and AIDS Awareness Week is to raise consciousness in the community about issues surrounding HIV/AIDS, including the need for support and understanding for people living with HIV/AIDS, and the need for the development of education and prevention initiatives.
To raise awareness of the impact of HIV/AIDS, Country Awareness Network (CAN) along with other local service providers and community groups are sponsoring local events around Bendigo during AIDS Awareness Week 2008: 24 November to 1 December.
The theme for the 2008 campaign is "Enjoy Life. Take Control. Stop HIV/AIDS." HIV/AIDS is still a major health issue with no known cure.
Check out our events calendar or our dedicated MySpace page for more information about activities during AIDS Awareness Week.
